Patterns & Design for Catastrophe

Hands On: Oak Woodland and Stream Restoration, Native Foods, Plant Propagation

Week 3

Lecture: Climate & Microclimate

Soils and the Soil Food Web

Hands On:  Sheet Mulching, Biochar, Hugelkulture, Compost Building

Week 4

Lecture: Rainwater Harvesting: Water Tanks, Cisterns, & Springs

Hands On:  Installing Rainwater Systems in the Home, Construct Biological Sand Filter, Greywater Installation

Week 5

Lecture: Earthworks: Ponds, Swales, Drains and other Earth Technologies

Aquaculture

Hands On:  Swale and Drain Construction, Causeway Installation, Aquatic Planting, Optical Surveying

Week 6

Forests & Agroforestry

Hands On: Coppice, Tree Falling with Hand Tools, Food Preservation

Lecture: Urban Systems
