In loving memory of Susi & Jon Velick.
Donations to the fund can be made here through paypal.
The Susan Velick memorial fund was established in 2008 with an initial gift from members of her immediate family with the purpose of “Honoring Susi’s life and enduring spirit through the support of education programs and beautification projects at Aprovecho.”
With the passing of her husband Jon Velick in 2011 the fund was expanded to stand as a memorial to both Jon and Susi.
In their life, Susi and Jon had a passion and intense respect for nature and the natural world. This was reflected in their garden and in their home. They closely shared this deep love of nature and the outdoors with their family, friends and their son / step-son Jeremy Roth. When Jeremy became involved with Aprovecho in 2000 Susi and Jon became one of Aprovecho’s strongest supporters and advocates.
For them, Aprovecho was a calming place where they were at peace in the forest, in the gardens, and amongst the staff and community there.
The fund is used for supporting beautification projects at Aprovecho’s campus, buildings, and gardens as well as scholarships to Aprovecho’s sustainability education programs for youth.
